Welcome
It gives us great pleasure to welcome you to our website and warmly invite you to explore all the information on offer. Nishkam High School Birmingham is faith-inspired and virtues-led; we are a multi-faith school rooted in the Sikh ethos, welcoming children and staff of all faiths and none.
Our fundamental belief at Nishkam is that all children can and will achieve. We aspire for excellence in all we do; we are all life-long learners and we strive daily to be the best we can be, both academically and spiritually. Our GCSE outcomes have consistently placed us in the top 3% for progress and 10% for attainment nationally. The vast majority of our sixth form students are accepted into their first-choice university, most of which are within the Russell Group. Whilst we are incredibly proud of these achievements, we are proudest of the wonderful young people we send off into the word as kind, compassionate and respectful adults who will contribute selflessly to society, helping to make the world a better place.
Our language of virtues informs every element of our work. Our curriculum, pedagogy and pastoral systems are all underpinned by our Golden Threads, through which we seek in every lesson and every interaction to better understand our connection with God learn to serve Him, and each other, in all that we do.
We hope our website will give you a sense of who we are, but the best way to understand this is to visit our beautiful building; we encourage anyone who is interested in becoming part of our family to join us for collective worship or walk the corridors with us whilst lessons are underway. Talk to our pupils who are our greatest ambassadors, and they will confirm that we are a safe, inclusive and peaceful place where every child is loved and nurtured.
If you would like any further information, or would like to book a visit, do not hesitate to get in touch.

Nishkam High School has a unique multi-faith ethos and demonstrates this by positively nurturing children of all faiths and those of no particular belief. The Sikh dharam (faith or religious responsibility) is emphatic in respecting all faiths and not seeking converts, instead focussing on maximising our contribution towards a cohesive society. Nishkam High School aims to produce lifelong learners, confident individuals and responsible, compassionate citizens.
We believe that all children can, and will, achieve. We are unrelenting in our pursuit of excellence, both in the classroom and beyond. Our GCSE and A Level results consistently reflect this. Those outcomes provide compelling evidence to support our virtues-led approach to education.
At the same time, we deliver both our learning and pastoral care through a language of shared virtues. We are committed to the belief that that the fostering of human virtues forms the foundation of all goodness. For our pupils, that means that our school is a safe and caring environment – one in which they can enjoy their education.
Our approach helps to provide a strong moral compass for our pupils that enables them to fully understand the choices that will face them in life and the best path for them to follow. They also become self-reflective, can build strong, meaningful relationships and more fully understand their responsibilities to the global family and all creation.
As all school leaders will tell you, a visit to the school will bring all these words to life. Our pupils are our best ambassadors and they will happily share their experiences with you. Do, please, contact the school if you would like to see our school in person.
