GCSE Results 2020

GCSE Results 2020

As you will all be aware, there were significant and dramatic changes to the awarding process this year that continued right up to Results Day (and beyond in the case of the Pearson Examination Board). Nonetheless, it was fabulous to be able to see our Year 11 cohort again as they came into school to receive their results.

The vast majority of students went away pleased and this short commentary is to say, 'well done' and also reflect on all their work over five years at the school. In combination with the excellent support from staff and parents, their academic achievements were superb; at the same time, it is also important to remember that these outcomes were achieved through our steadfast belief in 'faith inspired, virtues led' education.

Given all of the challenges that we have all faced, I do not feel that it is appropriate to focus too much on the whole school performance. Our Trust motto states, 'Man Neeva, mat uchi' and in keeping with that guidance, I think it is sufficient to state at this time that the 2020 GCSE results have yielded the highest Progress 8 score in our distinguished history to date. Moving forwards, we will provide more details on these school results and place them in a four-year context that emphasises our continued excellence over time.

This post is primarily designed to acknowledge and congratulate the contribution of the 2020 cohort to our school and its development. It is also to celebrate their wide-ranging accomplishments and wish them well on the next phase of their educational journey. It is also to accept that some parents/students have reservations about the results process this year and I encourage those concerned to speak with the school directly. The presence of Covid-19 has convinced me still further of the importance of the work that we carry out at Nishkam; developing and nurturing people through their faith and virtues so that they can serve humanity well and at the same time secure academic excellence.

My thanks once more to the students, their parents, the staff at Nishkam High School and our wider community for their contributions in helping our children achieve what they deserved despite the challenges of the time.

Kind Regards,

Mr Kearns
