A Level Results 2020
I would like to congratulate the Class of 2020 on their A Level results. Our pass rate this year is 98.4% and continues to be above the national pass rate that increased this year to 98.3%. I am delighted that seventy per cent of our cohort have been able to accept their first choice university place or their insurance offer; a further ten per cent are considering revised offers from their named university.
At the same time, as you will all be aware, the grades this year were determined by examination boards using an unsubtle statistical model. This has meant that a large number of results have been downgraded despite our recommendations to the boards. We are very conscious that they have submitted applications to universities and they should not be disadvantaged in any way compared with students in Scotland, for example. We will pursue this matter with those students adversely affected and support them in the days and weeks ahead when we receive more guidance on the basis for appeals.
I am confident that despite these difficulties, our faith inspired, virtues led approach to education has helped our students to be ready for life and the next stage in their journey. I am extremely grateful to our staff for all of their work with your child that has, in most cases, been over a seven year period; I am also grateful to parents for their unerring support for the school during that period.
Kind Regards,
Mr Kearns
