Raising notes using numbers!
Nishkam Primary School Wolverhampton, joined thousands of schools across the country for a mega maths-inspired fundraising day to raise money for the NSPCC. It was maths, but not as you know it. The children clearly enjoyed the day and it built motivational attitudes towards mathematics, whilst understanding the good cause they supported. Head teacher, Mr Dhanjal said “It is fantastic to see pupils putting our value-led education into action showing selflessness to raise money for the NSPCC”.
Teachers and children dressed up based on the theme of “dress up for digits” and every child engaged in maths activities. Who Wants to Be a Mathionnaire and speedy times table challenges took place in KS2. Whilst KS1 did measuring challenges around the school. Our reception children also got involved with counting objects and recognising shapes. In addition our student councillors worked extremely hard making and selling cakes across the school to raise as much money for NSPCC. The school raised £1,285.20 in total. Maths Lead Mrs Chahal said “It has been a fantastic effort and lots of fun for our pupils, parents and teachers”.
